Working With Smart Albums in Photoshop Elements 6
Working With Smart Albums in Photoshop Elements 6
Smart albums, like albums, contain photos of your choosing. However, instead of manually selecting individual photos as you would for albums, you only need to specify search criteria to create a smart album. Once you set the criteria for a smart album, any photo in a catalog that matches the criteria will appear automatically in that smart album. As you add new photos to the catalog, those photos matching a smart album’s criteria will appear automatically in that smart album. Smart albums keep themselves up-to-date.
- To set up search criteria for a new smart album, choose Find > Find by Details (Metadata). In the Find by Details (Metadata) dialog box, select the search criteria for the smart album. Click the plus sign (+) to add a criterion, click the minus sign (-) to remove a criterion.
- If necessary, select the Save this Search Criteria as Smart Album. Enter My first smart album as name, and then click Search.
- To display the photos in a smart album in the Photo Browser, select the smart album from the Albums palette.
- To change the name of a smart album, do the following:
- Select the smart album from the Albums palette.
- Click the Edit button in the Albums palette.
- Enter a new name in the Edit Smart Album dialog box, and then click OK.
- To change the search criteria of a smart album, do the following:
- Select the smart album from the Albums palette.
- Click Options in the find bar, and then choose Modify Search Criteria from the menu.
- Modify the search criteria in the Find by Details (Metadata) dialog box, and select to save it as a smart album.
- Provide a new name for the smart album, and then click Search.
- To delete the smart album, right-click its icon in the Albums palette, and then choose Delete [smart album name] album from the menu. Click OK to confirm.
