Safari: |
Web address links open in Safari. Control-click on a word in TextEdit to search for it in Google. |
Dictionary: |
Control-click on a word and choose “Look Up in Dictionary” from the pop-up menu to get that word’s definition and thesaurus entry. |
Mail: |
Email address links in TextEdit open a pre-addressed email message in Mail. |
Preview: |
Create a pdf in TextEdit (see below) that opens in Preview. You can also annotate the pdf in Preview (see Lesson 11). |
Speech: |
Have your text read aloud to you. Select the text to read just the selected part, or select nothing and the voice (named Alex) starts at the beginning of the document. Then go to the Edit menu, slide down to “Speech,” and choose “Start Speaking.” To turn the voice off, you have to go back to the menu and choose “Stop Speaking,” or use the contextual menu (Control-click or right-click in the document) and from the contextual menu, choose “Stop Speaking.” |
