One of the many advantages of using Lightroom is that it’s easy to learn. With a little bit of instruction and a dash of practice, you can become an advanced user in no time. This article is for those who want to further their Lightroom skills and become even more effective image makers.
Turn On the Lights
One of the reasons I enjoy Lightroom is because it allows me to focus on the image throughout my photographic workflow, and this is definitely true in Lights Out mode. Press the L key to dim the lights; press it again to turn out the lights. While this may not be news to you, perhaps you haven’t yet discovered the recent addition of a feature that I call "Lights On." Follow these steps:
- Select Lightroom > Preferences (PC: Edit > Preferences), and then click on the Interface tab.
- In the Lights Out category, click on the Screen Color menu. You’ll notice that you can now choose Light Gray or White (see Figure 1).
- Choose one; then close the preferences to apply this new setting. Press L multiple times to view the results.
