Top 10 Reasons To Upgrade to Aperture 2
Apple recently released Aperture 2.0, which is technically the third version of Aperture to be released (counting the 1.0 and 1.5 versions). This update is MAJOR, adding over 100 new features as well as support for a wide-range of digital SLR cameras. The new release supports more than 100 cameras (a detailed list can be found at http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html) and can recognize RAW, DNG, TIFF, and JPEG files.
With more than 100 features, which ones matter? Well, some of the features are subtle refinements that just make the program easier to use. Others, however, can change your entire workflow. I’ve had the pleasure of working with the application for a while, so when Peachpit asked me to compile the top 10 reasons Aperture users should upgrade, it was easy. Here they are.
1. Enhanced Full Screen Mode
Working in a Full Screen mode is truly a joy. Press the F key and the program maximizes the image. Much like the Dock, you can mouse over the bottom edge of the screen to have the Filmstrip pop-up. This lets you easily rate and navigate your images. Don’t like the Filmstrip on the bottom? It can be repositioned to the left and right edges of the screen as well. Need to control your adjustments? Press H to open the Heads Up display and improve your image.
