10. Speed, Speed, and More Speed
Aperture 2 is simply faster at every stage of your workflow. The database updates faster, the interface responds more quickly. One example of this is Quick Preview mode (simply press P). In this mode, you can browse and rate your images very quickly (you’ll need to turn it off if you want to make adjustments). You can also perform searches at greater speed to sift through your library and find shots based on keywords or metadata. Processor heavy adjustments (such as Highlights and Shadows) are much faster.
All in all, this update was well worth the wait. Apple has done a great job of adding useful new features while improving existing tools. What most people want is an application that makes it easy to sort, sift, and process images. Aperture excels at all of these. When you add in its many output options (from file format support to printed books to web and new media) the program just shines.
