What to Do If You Suspect Malware But Can’t Get a Pop-Up to Close
First things first: Don’t click OK. Don’t click I Accept, Yes, or whatever other affirming message appears. Sometimes you’ll get caught in this endless loop of windows that won’t close without you agreeing to install some type of malware. If that happens, you can try a few things, but don’t be shy about going to the last resort right away. First, forget about trying to close all of the windows. Cut straight to it and Right-click on the Internet Explorer 7 (or other browser) window icon in the Taskbar and choose Close (or just press Alt-F4). If that doesn’t work, then I suggest rebooting altogether. Make sure you switch to any programs with open and unsaved work and save it. Then reboot and don’t visit that site again.
