Working with Multiple Document Windows
You can have more than one document window open at a time. Here, you'll create a second window so that as you work, you can see two different views of the same document simultaneously.
- Choose Window > Arrange > New Window. Now you have the same document open in two windows. (Notice that InDesign displays :2 after the name of the second document.)
- In Mac OS, choose Window > Arrange > Tile to display the windows side by side.
- Select the Zoom tool in the Tools panel.
- In the window on the left, draw a marquee selection around some of the text to zoom in on the artwork. (In Figure 11, we've selected the white box containing the headline Operative Words.) Notice that the window at the right doesn't change magnification. This configuration lets you see how any changes you make in the selection affect the rest of the layout.
- Choose Window > Arrange > Consolidate All Windows. This action creates a tab for each window (below the Control panel), as shown in Figure 12. Click the tabs to control which document window displays.
- Close the :2 window by clicking the Close Window button (the X) on the window's tab. The original document window remains open.
- In Mac OS, resize and reposition the remaining window by clicking the Maximize button at the top of the document window.
