Searching the System Preferences
Can’t remember where a particular option is found within the System Preferences? (For example, for some reason I can never remember where to set the date format for my Mac. No, it’s not in Date & Time.) No sweat, because Spotlight also lives right within the System Preferences dialog (in the upper right-hand corner). Just open the System Preferences dialog from the Apple menu, and type the name of the preference setting you’re looking for (in my case, I’d type “format” [without the quotes]), and then Spotlight puts a little “spotlight” around the System Preferences that have a control for Format. If there’s more than one, it will highlight several icons, but to help you even further, a pop-up search menu will appear with the names of all the “Format” stuff. Click the one you want in the list (in my case, Date Formats), and it immediately takes you to that preference. That ain’t bad, folks.
