General Layout Panel Actions
All panel types can be manipulated in similar ways using tools in the Toolbox. In this section, you will choose panel types, add elements to panels, and change one panel type to another.
To make a panel active:
- Draw a layout panel of any type on the Artboard.
- From the Toolbox, choose the Selection tool.
- Double-click the panel. A yellow outline appears, to indicate that the panel is selected (Figure 4.1).

- Click the object and drag it to the layout panel. A dotted line outlines the layout panel, and a tooltip, "ALT-drag to place into," appears (Figure 4.2). Hold down the key while dragging the control to place the object in the layout panel.
