Getting Help
Your primary source of help information is Expression Media 2 Help. To open this help file on your PC, choose Help > Expression Media Help (or press F1). On a Mac, choose Help > Expression Media 2 Help. On either platform, you can also click the Open Help toolbar icon. Expression Media 2 Help is presented in its own window.
Using Expression Media Help on Windows
The following features are standard parts of the Microsoft Expression Media Help window (see Figure 7):
- Hide/Show. Click the Hide (or Show) button to hide or show the topic list on the left.
- Back. Click this button to flip back through previously viewed topics.
- Print. Prints the displayed topic.
- Options. You can also choose help commands from this icon's drop-down menu (see Figure 8).
- Contents. To list topics in a table of contents format, click the Contents tab above the left pane. To view any topic's help text, click the topic title.
- Index. Click this tab to display an alphabetical list of topics. To view a topic's help text, click the topic title.
- Search. Click this tab to search the Help file for relevant information.
- Links. Many topics contain light blue underlined text links. Click any link to view the indicated topic.

To minimize the Help window, click the Minimize button. To close the Help window, click the red Close button.
Using Expression Media Help on Mac
The following features are standard parts of the Mac version of the Microsoft Expression Media Help window (see Figure 9):
- Topics. Click the Topics icon to show/hide the pop-out pane on the left.
- Back/Forward. As with the equivalent buttons in a web browser, after you've examined a few topics, you can click these buttons to go backward or forward through those topics.
- Home. Click this button to go to the Help start page ("Welcome to Expression Media").
- Print. Prints the displayed topic.
- Links. Many topics contain light blue underlined text links. Click any link to view the indicated topic.
- Search box. To search for help on a topic, type a search term or phrase in this box and press Return. Potential matching help topics are shown in the pop-out pane. To clear the current search term, click the tiny X button in the search box.
- Contents tab. To display help topics in a table of contents format, click the Contents tab in the pop-out pane. To view a topic's help text, click the topic title.

To close the Expression Media 2 Help window, click the red Close button.
Although you can't minimize the Help window to get it out of the way, you can change the window's default behavior. Open the drop-down menu at the bottom of the window (see Figure 10) and remove the checkmark from Always on Top. This change will let the Help window float behind other windows.
