Summary
We've explored how layers can be used not only to organize objects for easier editing, but to edit the content of the illustrations. Using layers to create clipping masks is a convenient way to mask sections of an illustration, and produces clipping masks that some people will find easier to edit than clipping masks generated outside of the Layers panel. Effects, including transparency, can be applied through the Layers panel to many objects at once, and the results can be tweaked at any time in the Appearance panel.
