Better Import Controls
Lightroom's Import process has been completely redesigned. (I'll highlight those changes in a separate article.) But here's the gist: In Lightroom 3, you have far more control over where to put imported photos, what to name the incoming photos, and how to create fail-safe backups of the originals. Favorite destination folders are added automatically to a drop-down menu. Other commonly used settings can be saved for use again and again. You also can check your photos at full size before you import themmaking it easier to check the focus on crucial shots immediately, as shown in Figure 12.
