Auto-Update Testing
As development progressed, we integrated the AIR updater and created an XML update file, temporarily hosted by DevelopmentArc. This approach allowed us to test the update system and automatically push new versions to testers and reviewers. Client review was much easier this way, because each client could easily update the application through the tool, instead of having the team email or hand out new builds.
As the development cycle started to wind down, we worked with the Adobe Labs team to host the official XML update file at the predefined location. This system allowed the team to verify that the XML file was configured correctly and that the application was pointing to the right location of the update XML files on Adobe.com.
