10 Minutes with Flash: Streaming Video with Flash MX 2004 Professional
- You're a Geek, and You're Boring
- Installing and Using the Annoying CD-ROM Extras
- Yep, It's That Easy
- The Reminders
If you're one of the lucky ones who own a copy of Flash MX 2004 Professional, you may have noticed the set of Media Components in the Components panel. I know, I knowyou bought Flash Pro to develop applications because you're a big-shot code geek, but what fun is that? Video is much sexier. Seriously, you can blow away the competition's web site by creating a video clip of your boss talking about how smart he is and putting it on the homepage. It'll make him happy. I swear.
You're a Geek, and You're Boring
If you're not convinced that video is groovy, read on. In the next 10 minutes, I'll show you how to take your boss' snazzy new QuickTime video and turn it into a streaming Flash movie that weighs less than 70Kb. If you're still not convinced, I'll remind you at the end of this article that you did it all without writing a single line of code. (Wait...that might make you unhappy.) Furthermore, I'll remind you that you did it in 10 minutes, leaving plenty of time to finish your lunch before your boss notices that you padded your timesheet, claiming "video prep work" as a justification for overtime.
Ready? Let's do it.
