3-Light Lens Flare Setup: Lens-Flare Lighting
The Setup
This is a three-light shoot that incorporates three different types of light: a very soft light (the main light), a slightly harder, more focused light (the strip bank with the egg crate grid attached), and a hard light with a metal grid to focus the light really tightly. The idea here is to get a little bit of a lens flare happening in the photo by framing the shot so that the flash of light from the strip bank flares into the lens a bit. This flared look is very popular today, and it’s pretty darn easy to achieve, since for years we’ve all done this from time to time by accident.
