One reason why people buy smartphones today is the mobile Internet. Perhaps you would like to find out what’s going on in the world, check the current sports results, or read the latest news on Facebook, Twitter, and so on. Or would you like to watch a few funny video clips for entertainment? What would be more suitable than YouTube? All the information you could possibly want is there, right in your hands and in the most updated form; you just need to get it.

Safari

The number-one tool when you are thinking of the Internet is an Internet browser. Your iPhone does not have just any old browser app with which you can surf the Internet more or less well. Rather, it has the same powerful browser that has been putting its capacity to the test on the Mac for years and is now also available for Windows: Safari. This gives you the option of using the same browser on all devices without having to wrack your brain trying to remember how different browsers work if you quickly want to go online while out and about.

You do need to be aware of a limitation, though: The Safari browser does not support Flash and other plug-ins. So, videos and other page content based on Flash technology do not work in the iPhone, unfortunately. According to Apple, the reason is that playing Flash content would overtax the battery and make the system more unstable if Apple was to allow Flash on the iPhone. So, at the moment, it’s no Flash on the iPhone (nor on the iPad, by the way).

If you go to websites offering Flash-based content, they unfortunately will not run on your iPhone.

In terms of technology, that is no big deal, by the way. Modern websites have long since been able to play videos without using Flash.

On rare occasions it is necessary to send out a strictly service related announcement. For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance we might send users an email. Application and System Logs

Pearson automatically collects log data to help ensure the delivery, availability and security of this site.
