Shoot to Sell
At every newborn session, I capture specific shots. They include the four-image macro shots of lips, eyelashes, hand, and toes; the three-image storytelling series; and if possible, close-up awake shots. This helps me to plan ahead for shooting to sell. These types of detail images are truly favored by parents, and they will generally always purchase them. The three-image series can be a collection of two 16x24 portraits paired with a 20x24 portrait in between—a framed wall gallery of portraits that beautifully complement one another. The macro shots are perfect for albums, and the awake shots are the ones parents choose for the big canvas prints. Think about what you want to sell, and then shoot for those products.
A three-image series makes for a compelling framed wall gallery.
