Keeping Your Scanner Clean
Scanners contain electrical components and are not designed for scanning liquids, though you could probably scan a fresh tomato slice if you're careful and ready to mop up the juice. Likewise, it would not be a good idea to scan dirt or flour or other fine particles that could clog the scanner's works. But we have had success scanning small things like seeds and popcorn that generate some chaff. Carefully remove such items after scanning and clean the glass with window cleaner to keep your scans dust-free. It's also possible to lay wet items on a piece of clear acetate placed on top of the scanner glass.
