Checking Your Work
Checking work during image-processing operations is actually the most common use of histograms. In everyday 3D production work, most professionals do not check a histogram very often while lighting a scene. However, any time you are not sure about your overall use of dark and light tones, checking a histogram is a good idea. As you practice realistic 3D lighting, checking each project with a histogram will provide you with an objective "second opinion" to confirm that the tones you see on your monitor are really what is going into your file.
