Turning off the New Document Dialog Box
If you're planning on creating the same kind of file every time, that new New Document dialog box (Figure 3.5; it's new in Dreamweaver MX) may be more of an annoyance than a helpful feature.
To turn off the New Document dialog box:
From the menu bar, select Edit > Preferences (On Mac OS X, select Preferences from the Dreamweaver menu.) The Preferences dialog box will appear.
Select New Document from the Category list (Figure 3.10). The dialog box will show new file preferences (Figure 3.11).
Figure 3.10 Select New Document from the Category list in the Preferences dialog box.
Figure 3.11 Deselect this check box to prevent the New Document dialog box from showing up when you use the Ctrl+N (Command+N) shortcut to create a new file.
Select your default document type from the listHTML, unless you have another mandate.
Uncheck the Show New Document Dialog on Control+N/Command+N check box.
Click OK.
Now, when you press Ctrl+N (Command+N), you'll just get a new blank file of the type you selected.
TIP
You can still open the New Document dialog by selecting File > New from the menu bar.
