Using Textures
Textures are one of the most overlooked . They allow you to vary the appearance of solid colors, patterns, or gradients. The organic textures add the appearance of paper, stone, leather, and other natural surfaces. The grid textures apply lines, other highlights to applied to a fill, you can of the texture.
To apply a texture to a fill:

Choose one of the vector drawing tools or select a vector object. The Property Inspector displays the Texture controls in the Fill options

Choose one of the textures from the Texture menu. A preview box shows the texture

TIP
There is always a texture applied to every fill. However, with an intensity of 0% the effect of the texture is not visible.

Use the slider or enter a number in the Intensity field to see the effects of the texture on the fill

Check Transparent to allow background objects to appear in the light-colored areas of the texture

When transparency is turned on, you can see one texture behind the other.
