A new Photoshop document

Let’s get started. Just as Ted Chin usually does, we’ll first create a new document with a 4:5 ratio, which in this case will be 3000 by 3750 pixels. In this document we’ll place several images, remove the background and much more.

  1. Open Photoshop and tap Create New at the bottom left of the Home screen.

  2. Choose the Print tab and a preset such as the 1000 pixel grid. After that, change the document size to 3000 by 3750 pixels (Figure 4.03).

To determine the 4:5 ratio, I first determined the width: 3000 pixels. You can print this width at 10 inches, as well as post it on social media with good quality. Then I divided 3000 by 4, and multiplied it by 5 to determine the height.

  1. Tap Create in the lower-right corner. A new document will be created.
