Using the Empty Template
When none of the templates fit the needs of a project, you can use the Empty template to start completely from scratch. However, most of the time, you will find starting with a template easier, and if you spend some time making your own templates, you'll rarely find a situation where you have to use the Empty template. If you find yourself using the Empty template often, consider whether you can create a new template for at least some of the situations where you are now starting from a blank slate.
To create a new project with the Empty template
- From the File menu, choose New Project, which opens the New Project dialog box (

).

- Select the Empty project, which creates a blank project with no audio or MIDI tracks; then click OK.
- In the Select Directory dialog box that opens, navigate to the folder where you want to save a new song or create a new folder (
