Linking Toolsets to Your Custom Settings
In addition to customizing the layout of the default toolsets, you can link your custom settings on the Settings tab to particular toolsets, so that each toolset uses your own custom Keyboard settings, Timeline View settings, and so on instead of the Xpress Pro defaults.
The key to grouping and linking custom settings to particular toolsets is using a preplanned custom name strategy, giving the same name to all settings you want to link to a particular toolset.
For example, say you give the same name—Special FX Editing—to a custom Keyboard setting, Timeline setting, and Render setting. Then you link the phrase "Special FX Editing" to the default Effects Editing toolset. Now each time you choose Toolset > Effects Editing, Xpress Pro automatically activates all settings named Special FX Editing, and your FX custom Keyboard, Timeline, and Render settings now override the default settings.
To link a toolset to one or more settings on the Settings tab:
- From the Toolset menu, select a toolset.
- Choose Toolset > Link to Current.
- From the Link Toolset dialog box pop-up menu, choose Link to Named Settings (

).
Figure 3.11 To link an active toolset to one or more custom user settings, first choose Link to Current from the Toolset menu and then choose Link to Named Settings in the pop-up menu.
- Type the name of the settings to which you want to link your toolset (

).

To link a toolset to Xpress Pro's default (unnamed) settings:
- From the Toolset menu, select a toolset.
- Choose Toolset > Link to Current. The Link Link Toolset - Current dialog box appears.
- From the Link Toolset—Current dialog box pop-up menu, choose Link to Unnamed Settings (

).
