USING THE SIMILAR COMMAND
The Similar command takes the expansion of a selection a step further. In addition to selecting neighboring colors, it searches for similar colors elsewhere in the image. In the image shown at left, the Grow command worked well selecting the larger flower. When the Similar command was applied, it reached out and selected the other purple pixels, so all the flowers were selected.
