Lightroom Is Fast!
Speed speaks for itself, but let’s talk about it anyway. If you’ve followed Aperture lately, you know everybody’s talking about the NASA-like powered machines that it requires. Lightroom is quite the opposite. I’m running it on a 1.25 GHz G4 PowerBook with 1GB of RAM, and it runs beautifully. I have Aperture installed on the same PowerBook and it’s definitely a slow go when trying to edit my photos. Do I like certain features in Aperture? Sure, but speed is definitely not one of them. Lightroom was built from the ground up to be fast and flexible. Adobe recognizes that photographers are on the move, and created an application that can move with them.
