Optimizing Flash Content for Google
Google did not see the Flash content exactly as it appears in the SWF file. For example, the extraction included the rollover text for the three buttons on the bottom right corner of the page (Links, Contact Us, and Sweepstakes). This is a great start if we want to optimize this page to achieve a higher ranking for it in the Google search results.
For example, now that we know that the button rollover text is getting indexed by Google, you should relabel the button rollovers with more descriptive titles (that is, titles that would be more meaningful to folks looking for an electric sports car in Google or looking specifically for the Stiletto Electric Sports car).
A good start is to change the links as follows:
Original |
Change |
Link |
Stiletto Electric Sports Car Options |
Contact Us |
Contact Stiletto |
Sweepstakes |
Enter Stiletto Sweepstakes |
Also, because Google usually uses the first text it finds in the SWF file as the all-important title of the search result, we should also replace the blurb "The End of Compromise" at the top of the SWF page with something more descriptive. For example Stiletto Electric Sports Car would serve as a much better title for this document when displayed in the Google search results.
A great way to asses what Google is seeing and indexing from Flash pages is to study pages that are already indexed.
