Storing Captured Footage
By default, Premiere Elements saves captured files to the same folder in which the current project is saved. However, this may not be the most convenient location for your captured video files. For example, your system may have a larger secondary drive better suited to storing large video files.
Before you capture, you can designate the disks that Premiere Elements uses to save video and audio media files. Given a choice, specify a fast disk with ample storage space; it will be the most capable of capturing all the frames successfully.
To set the capture location:
- Choose Edit > Preferences > Scratch Disks (
Figure 3.14
).
The Scratch Disks pane of the Preferences dialog box appears ( Figure 3.15 ).

- For Captured Video and Captured Audio, do one of the following:
- To save captured video or audio in My Documents or the same folder as the project, choose the appropriate item in the pull-down menu (

).

- To save captured video or audio in a folder you specify, click the Browse button, and specify a location in the Browse for Folder dialog box.
- To save captured video or audio in My Documents or the same folder as the project, choose the appropriate item in the pull-down menu (

- Click OK to close the Preferences dialog box. Captured video and audio files are captured to the location you specified.
