Searching for Songs
Sometimes browsing just doesn't get you where you want to go fast enough. What if all you know, for example, is that either the song title or the album title has the word Wheels in it or that the artist's name starts with Al? iTunes has a search feature that will help.
Also, if you have a very large library and you know the exact title of the song you want, the fastest way to get to that song is by using iTunes' search feature.
To search for a text string:
- In the Source pane, click the source you want to search. Most likely this source will be your library, although you can search other items in your Source pane in the same way.
- In the Search field, located in the top right corner of the iTunes window, type the text you want iTunes to locate.
As you type, the song list changes to reflect what you've typed so far. The song list displays the songs that contain—in the Song Name, Artist, Album, Genre, or Composer columns—the text you've typed in the search field. The more you type, the more you narrow the search results (

Also, as soon as you start typing in the Search field, the Search bar appears if it wasn't already visible (refer to Figure 3.4).

To limit a search:
- Click the appropriate button in the Search bar (refer to Figure 3.4) to have iTunes search only a specific type of item (Music, Audiobooks, Podcasts, Videos, or Booklets) or to have it search in only a specific column (Artist, Album, or Name).
