Head-to-Head Comparisons
To test the encoding quality of Flix Pro, we encoded a sampling of videos with Flix Pro, Flash 8, and Final Cut Pro using the Sorenson 3 codec—all with the same encode quality settings. The results are summarized in the following table. Although all three encoders produced acceptable video, the Flash and On2 applications (which use On2’s VP6 codec) produced video quality noticeably better than the Sorenson codec. Both videos appear sharper and clearer, with fewer compression artifacts. The end result is the ability to encode the same video at lower bit rates, thus saving bandwidth.
