STOP THE BOUNCING. I BEG YOU!
When you launch an application, its icon begins to bounce incessantly in the Dock, in a distracting vertical Tigger-like motion, until the app is just about open. I love this feature; but then, I enjoy having my cavities drilled. If you enjoy this animation as much as I do, you can turn it off by going to the Apple menu, under Dock, and choosing Dock Preferences. When the Dock preference pane appears, turn off the checkbox (it's on by default) for Animate Opening Applications. Turning this off now can save you thousands of dollars in therapy down the road.
