Reducing PDF File Sizes
Sometimes when you're sending files to other users, you need to minimize your file size, making the file as small as possible for transferring. Acrobat can scan through your PDF file, applying a number of strategies to reduce the file's size, while still keeping it readable to a viewer. In some cases, you can reduce the file size by almost 50 percent.
To reduce file size
- Open the document for which you want to reduce the file size.
- Choose File > Reduce File Size (

- From the Make compatible with pop-up menu, choose a version of Acrobat you know your recipient can use. If you aren't sure what version of Acrobat to choose, you should probably go with Acrobat 4.
- Click OK. This brings up the Save As dialog box so you can give this reduced file a new name and keep the original intact. You can also choose to replace the original file with the smaller file.
