Importing from CD/DVD
You will often find image collections available for sale on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM discs. While this is a great way to distribute images (cheap to manufacture and large-capacity discs that are cross-platform compatible) it is not a good way to work on images. You’ll want to copy the images to your hard drive before you bring them into Photoshop. This will significantly increase the speed at which you can work on the images (hard drives transfer data faster than optical media drives). Additionally, you will be able to save your work in progress to your hard drive; you can’t save to the CD or DVD.
