Getting It Right
So, did Quark finally get it right? My personal conclusion is that Quark got enough of it right to renew my faith in the company and the product. And, based on comments, I’ve received from users who waited to see QuarkXPress 7 before jumping on the InDesign bandwagon, many users agree. I believe the industry will have two-page layout programs for quite awhile to come.
Quark’s biggest challenge is to educate their users about the value of the breakthrough features in QuarkXPress 7. If Quark succeeds at doing that, the product will sell itself. But even if they don’t, enough users are likely to upgrade that Quark will be able to develop several more versions of QuarkXPress that refine and expand its new features and give them more time to get their point across. I truly hope they succeed.
