Opening Existing Files
Once a file has been saved on disk, you can reopen it to read, modify, or print it.
To open an existing file
- Choose Office > Open (Figure 37) or press
.
- Use the Open dialog that appears (Figure 53) to locate the file that you want to open.

TIPs
- To view only specific types of files in the Open dialog, select a format from the file type drop-down list to the right of the File name box (Figure 54).

- If you select All Files from the file type drop-down list (Figure 54), you can open just about any kind of file. Be aware, however, that a file in an incompatible format may not appear the way you expect when opened.
- You can open a recent file by selecting it from the list of recently opened files on the right side of the Office menu (Figure 37).
- You can use the Views menu to change the appearance of items in the Open dialog's file list. The icon views show thumbnail images of saved Excel 2007 files (Figure 55).
