Remove Cache Files
Mac OS X relies on cache files for some system and application functions. Cache files can speed up performance of specific activities, but items stored in them can also eat up disk space. You can use a tool such as Onyx to delete items in Mac OS X’s cache folders to free up space. Since Mac OS X will continually repopulate its cache files, this is something you’ll need to do periodically.
