From there, you'll learn to record audio and MIDI, edit sequences, master mixing techniques, and use Logic's software synthesizers, sampler, and digital signal processors to put the perfect aural polish on your audio creations. A special troubleshooting section helps you set up and optimize your studio and Logic system effectively. Whether you're looking to use your computer as a digital recording studio, create musical compositions and cutting-edge surround-sound mixes, or transfer that song in your head into living music, this comprehensive book/DVD combo will show you how.

If you've upgraded to Logic 8.0.2, step 5 should say “Click the header of the Pressure C-2 lane.”

Problem: In Logic 8.0.1, after completing step 5, the window titled "Add Region to Apple Loops Library" only allows you to create a One-shot loop, and the Loop choice is dimmed (unavailable).
Solution: This is due to a change in the way Logic 8.0.1 handles region lengths. For the "Loop" choice to be available, the region needs to be exactly 2 bars long, as explained in the More Info section on page 265. In 8.0.1, even though your region appears to be 2 0 0 0, it is really only 1 3 3 239. Resize your region while holding Control-Shift: shorten it to 1 3 3 238, then back to 2 0 0 0. Then choose Region > Add to Apple Loops Library. You will now be able to choose "Looped".
